Nicole fall pictures-002

When I think of fall, I think of the color gold. Golden leaves that surely must have sparked the chaos of miners searching for gold in these hills, because how could nature shine so brilliantly without the help of precious metals?

When I think of fall, I think of aspen trees and windy roads. The smooth glide through the Rocky Mountains with the windows down, your hair whipping around your head. The mountains have a different smell than the rest of the world. They smell of sunburnt leaves that fall with a flutter to the ground, and wild grasses that sway along the sloped hillside, and the fresh dew of an evening rain rolling towards us in the distance.

When I think of fall, I think of the biting chill that accompanies sunrise. Foggy mornings that are remedied with warm blankets and cups of steaming tea. There is a stillness these mornings, a quiet reprieve from the urgency of time. Like the sound of a match lighting a tangy, ginger spiced candle and the deep inhale that follows–a moment surrounded purely by peace.

When I think of fall, I think of muffins, fresh out of the oven. Sweet, warm, and spiced. There is Ben Howard singing in the background and the strum of a guitar that sounds like a melancholy affection. It’s beautiful and nostalgic and perfect.

When I think of fall, I think home.

I hope you all have a beautiful, relaxing autumn!

All of these utterly amazing pictures above were taken by my beautiful best friend, Nicole. She went on a hike this last weekend and captured some of the amazing colors of a Colorado fall.

Happy Friday!
