Caramel Apples are such a fall staple, and yet my entire life I’ve never been able to really enjoy them. For one, the caramel gets everywhere. I’m all about making a mess, but having sticky caramel caked all over my face is not a feeling that I enjoy. And secondly, honestly, who eats a whole caramel apple in one sitting? I’ve never been able to and then the apple just gets gross because you have to wait a week until you are hungry enough to finish it off.
So, a few weeks ago when I was cutting up an apple to munch on, I accidentally started cutting it into little slices instead of wedges like I normally do and VOILA! The idea came to me. Why not slice up the apple instead of trying to eat the whole apple in one go? Now, I’m sure I’m late on the bandwagon with this idea, but it felt like an Einsteinian moment for me, so just humor me and roll with it.
Sliced Caramel Apples
You will need:
- Caramel Spread
- Chocolate Chips
- Sea Salt
- Marshmallow Fluff
Let’s do this:
- First you need to slice your apple into slices. Personally I think it’s probably better to make the slices on the thicker side because of all the toppings you’re putting on, but it’s up to you!
- You can either start by spreading the caramel on the apple or spreading melted chocolate down on the apple first.
- If you start with the chocolate, I’ve found that after you get your apple the way you want it, then pop it in the freezer for 10 minutes to let the chocolate harden. Then you can come back in with the toppings you want.
- After that, it’s simple as pie. You just sprinkle, drizzle, or dip your apples any way you want!
