Guys, I survived finals and now it’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas. I’ve always loved this time of year, especially in Colorado where we can get snow and sunshine in the same hour. I love how everything just transforms–things get warm and cozy, christmas lights shine in the darkness, and everyone seems to be more joyful and forgiving the close we get to the 25st.

Anyways, since I’ve been MIA for awhile I thought I’d catch you guys up to date on what I’ve been up too.

I flew into Colorado on Thursday night to a balming -12 degrees which was honestly kind of a relief coming from 60 degree weather out in Philadelphia. My puppy came with to pick me up so we got to have a cuddle session the entire way home; it was lovely. These last few days since I’ve been back have been filled with odds and ends; I’ve been Christmas shopping (which was a mess), tree shopping and decorating, and some baking (lots of baking).

So here’s some bits and pieces of what’s been going on in my life. I hope you all are having a wonderful time in the run up to Christmas!

Picking out a Christmas Tree

Every year we go as a family and pick out a Christmas Tree at a local place that sells trees from all over North America (Canada included). For the last 3 years, I’ve won the “Great Tree Debate” and we get to take my chosen tree home to decorate. This year, however, my reign ended when the boys ganged up on me and choose the 9.5 foot Douglas Fir pictured below. Although I’m a little bitter about losing, it’s really is a great tree and it makes the house smell so wonderful!

Christmas Cookies (fail)

So while catching up with my beautiful besties, we decided to bake some Christmas cookies to get in the holiday spirit and have something to do while we gossiped about the last few months of our lives. We got some Pillsbury dough from the store because who has patients to hand make their own dough (we sure don’t). It turns out we really suck at making Christmas cookies as the shapes we cut out ended up merging together into bloops and blobs. Oh well…I’m blaming it on the store bought dough.

Anyways! That’s a little recap of what I’ve been up too! I’ll be posting again soon with some holiday recipes and festive crafts leading up to Christmas day so stay tuned!

Happy Sunday!
